So I was watching Power Rangers Dino Thunder this morning (OK, there wasn't anything else on and I was eating my breakfast/lunch so I stuck it out), and when the credits rolled, I couldn't help but notice what it said at the last part:
The story is purely fictious and any resemblance to person(s) living or dead is purely coincidental.
You'd think one has weekly battles with overgrown robots, and giant robotic prehistoric creatures.
Then I couldn't help remembering something I read on my phone's warranty card one week ago:
The Consumer shall have no coverage or benefits under this limited warranty if any of the following conditions are applicable:
(a) The Product has been subjected to: abnormal use, abnormal condition, improper storage, blah...blah...blah....Acts of God...blah...blah...
Acts of God?! I mean, come on, Acts of God indeed. Suffice to say, I read and re-read the entire contents of the warranty card (something which I've never thought of doing), searching for any mention of the stated 'Acts of God', but found nada/zilch/nothing else mentioning it. Those 3 little words held my amusement for like 2 minutes while I imagined what 'Acts of God' one can commit with the humble mobile phone. I couldn't think of any.
Ok, I retract my previous statement. I was pondering 'Acts of God', and decided to search online and here's what I found:
Act of God is a common legal term for events outside of human control, such as sudden floods or other natural disasters, for which no one can be held responsible.
Put into context, 'Acts of God' now sounds perfectly reasonable, although sending one's mobile to the care centre in an earthquake would hardly be the utmost thing on anyone's mind.
