Sleepy
Brain Brain, wherefore art thou?
Somewhere on the sunny beaches of Hawaii, my brain is still sitting in a deck chair sipping Pina Colada. Since school started on Monday, I realised my brain had gone to rust from lack of use. It was hard trying to come to terms with the Induction Week Project and trying to understand what I was supposed to do. The hardest thing was focus. For the life of me, I could not focus on the task at hand. Every time I tried, I got sleepy. After all, I had neither thought about architecture nor design for close to 3 months, and suddenly plunging into it again was a mammoth task. Sitting in Coffeebean while waiting for Tiffany did help a little. I whipped out the reference books and my sketchbook and started researching and making notes, and suddenly there were flashes of inspiration and motivation. Sadly those never last longer than a few seconds of exhilaration before spiralling into nothing. Maybe it's just me, but sometimes [like today] I'll get these occasional spurts of inspiration and I'm motivated to do my work with new found enthusiasm, but those moments always come when I'm outside so I can't just plonk down in the middle of the road and start research. More often than not, the short lived enthusiasm fizzles out. So I was pleasantly surprised I enjoyed myself today when Tiffany, Oz, and myself spent the day hunting for 'inspirational interiors'. Despite the relatively boring and safe architecture of Singapore, we did manage to unearth some treasures here and there. Not as many as I would have liked, but enough to inject me with a dosage of inspiration. All I need to do now is to cling onto what's left of it so I can at least complete some work before my eyelids head south.
