Location: Gloucester Place, London
Day #11. I've survived London for 11 days. Another 2 more days and I'll be homeward bound. Time sure does fly. I wouldn't say I'm not enjoying myself, but I won't be all "I wish I didn't have to leave!!!" when it comes time for me to go to the airport. For one, I miss my nice clean room and my nice clean toilet. Sure Ricardo scrubs the bathroom, but how clean can it get when it's shared among 7 people? And I can't shower in peace because I'm constantly on guard for anyone who needs to shower and go off to work in a hurry. Perhaps I'm ready to go home because I have seen all that I needed to see here. I cannot reiterate this enough, but in someway, I have fulfilled what I came here for, so it's time to go back. Back to familiarity. London is too big a place for me to get familiarised with it within 2 weeks. It simply is too short a time. Maybe I'm not as adventurous as I thought I was. Or because walking around on your own most of the time really takes the fun out of plenty of things. Sure I can dawdle as long as I want over things other people may not be interested in [like the museums], but it would help if there's company.
My purpose in coming to London was to check things off my 'List Of Things To See And Experience'. So it being Saturday, I headed off to Nottinghill for Portobello Market.

There was plenty to see, plenty to buy if you're rich enough, and plenty of people. However, save for the antiques and London souvenirs, most of the things like bags, clothes, and accessories, could be found elsewhere and for a fraction of the cost. For instance, I wasn't going to pay £5 [S$15.25] for a pair of earrings which can be found in Bangkok or in Singapore for half the cost, or which I probably can make myself. So it was pretty much sightseeing. I walked to the end of the stretch of stalls and back [because that's the only way I know how to get to the bustop], and took a bus over to Camden Market. Same thing. Lots to see, lots to buy, lots of people. Normally I wouldn't be, but I was glad when it started to rain. It certainly cleared the narrow streets because everyone was cowering under some sort of shelter save for a select few with umbrellas or ponchos. Living in Singapore certainly prepares me well for wet weather, so I whipped out my umbrella and had the streets to myself.
Morrisons was my last stop of the day before heading back to the flat. Had to do a spot of grocery shopping for the girls and for myself, to see what would survive the flight back to Singapore. Thereafter, I have been sitting in this chair I'm in now ever since I came back.
