Day #10

Location: Gloucester Place, London

Got out of bed at 9am. You all know what that means by now. Since I wasn't leaving the flat early, I volunteered to do the laundry because the laundry bag in our room has been getting heavier. Ricardo seems to have waged a war with his flat though. He was vacuuming, cleaning, washing and scrubbing the flat with a vengeance. Perhaps that's what he always does on his day off from work. Anyhoo, I gladly got out of his warpath around 2pm and took a walk down to Oxford Circus. Under normal circumstances [like when my week long Oyster pass hasn't expired], I would have taken the Tube, but since my one week pass has expired and I've only topped up £10 in the card, which would have barely gotten me through a day's transportation, I decided to walk because London is fairly walkable, and transportation here is crazy expensive.

My itinerary was to hit both the National Portrait Gallery and The National Gallery before heading over to nearby Leicester Square to meet Melissa for our theatre show at 530pm. Well, I skipped both galleries because I doubt I'd really be able to appreciate paintings anyway, and went shopping (again) along Oxford Street, thereafter I took a stroll all the way down to Leicester Square, the whole time praying I wouldn't get lost because honestly, I didn't really know where I was walking towards. I only took a brief glance at a small map before I left, so that was all the knowledge I was banking on. Still, I wasn't about to give in and take the Tube because it would be terribly expensive for just a couple of stops. I managed to find the theatre though, but not without walking round the same block twice.

Avenue Q is basically a muppets musical catered for adults. That being said, I will never look at muppets the same way again, although the musical made for a very entertaining evening. It was such a feel good production, plus it was truly hilarious. West End shows rock.
