Re-Sub Bleah

I have to go down to school tomorrow to check whether I have to do a re-submission, which is highly likely. I just hope to goodness that all I have to do is hand in the set of drawings. I'm freaking out like anything because my review during the final Jury wasn't good at all. Suhan and the other woman from hell obviously did not like my model, and they unanimously preferred one of my earlier mock-up models. I think it's total rubbish that our works have to be subjected to the opinions of 2 people. The reason why my final model did not follow the structure of the previous mock-ups was because I was told, by the 2 lecturers in charge of us, that it looked clumsy, and they suggested I do away with it. So now Suhan and the woman from hell don't like my final model. Like it's my fault?! It's so totally unfair. I mean, art is subjective. Some people like it, some people don't. Really it doesn't make sense for us to change our models just to suit Suhan's tastes. She doesn't even teach us for crying out loud! It is up to the artist him/herself to interpret his/her works. What point is there if the artist is told that his/her works do not suit the tastes of a few people, and that the artist should make the appropriate changes? Really, then art would be dead. It's all about free-expression because art is after all, an open concept. So is design. So long as the spaces work and make sense, I don't see what's the big deal. Sure the lecturers would argue that they would know better because they've been in the industry a long time. Precisely why their views and opinions are so myopic because they've been confined to a standard set of designs for so long. For us, we're all just starting our first semester as interior designers. Obviously we'll think differently and more creatively (in a sense) than the seasoned designers. It's just so exasperating that I may have to commit one whole month to doing pointless work, and in the end, all they do is glance through the stuff and that's it. It's such a total waste of time and effort. Kelly and James obviously do not find anything wrong with my design. I don't know why Suhan is being so picky and neurotic. I just hope I can pass on to the next semester. I promise to work doubly and triple-ly hard and never never never slack off again. It's a promise, signed, sealed, and delivered (so lame).
