Whew! One whole week of waterpolo including the 'assessment' which turned out to be a waterpolo clinic conducted by the Aussie head coach of the women's team from Queensland. But my fears were put to rest after Sharyn gave us an introduction on what she's gonna be doing with us. I bet all of us felt super apprehensive, not just the new girls, but the senior girls as well, after looking at the packed schedule over the 2 days of assessment. It was non-stop polo and polo and polo from 8am - 530pm. But although we had like 3 pool sessions a day, each lasting for at least 2 hours, it wasn't that tiring 'cos she just did lots of drills with us and introduced alot of new things so it was pretty fun. And Sharyn was super nice (and tall..wayyy tall). And the sun throughout that 2 days were like HOT so all the girls went home tanned and burned and aching all over even though it wasn't that strenuous. But I learned lots of stuff from these 2 days and I'm glad I went for it and didn't cook up some lame excuse to get out of the program even though I had to drag myself down to the pool by 730am.
Had training again today. Those who turned up were like "I'm aching everywhere! My arms are aching and my butt is aching! I'm shagged man!" but we still went on with training and we played 5 on 6 and I was like dying halfway. Waterpolo is seriously an aggressive sport. I felt so bad for kicking Nicole so hard. But a gal's got to do what a gal's got to do (during a game). Had an episode with the glob of phlegm in the pool and all the girls yelling "EEEWWW GROSS!!!" or "EEEWWW YUCK!" or "It actually looks like a really big butterfly lying in the water" (Su-Lynn) or "The green part is separated from the white part!" (Xiu Er). Hilarious. Then the episode with the seed that some of us thought was a piece of shit. Prior to that, some of us were smelling some poop smell but we didn't know where the smell came from. Then I saw this poop looking thing floating in the water and Val scooped it out and placed it on the wall. After training, Su-Lynn was like "Is that shit?" and Val was like "No! It's a seed". Upon closer inspection.."It looks like shit!!" (Su-Lynn) and "I think it's shit!" (someone else) and "OMG! I touched it!! YUCK!!" (Val). Laughter from everyone else standing around. "I don't think it's shit. How can it be shit? It's a seed!" (Val). "Maybe it's cat shit or something" (Xiu Er). "It can't be shit. How can anyone shit here?!" (Adelyn). Haha. The girls crack me up. It was a seed eventually but it was rather funny. Their reactions were classic. So funny.
Managed to convince Mom to pick me up after training today so I could drive home. I think Mom's like super nervous with me behind the wheel. She was like bordering on the verge of hysteria (which really annoyed me after a while). She says I drive too fast for a new driver and then she kept telling me to slow down, turn here, turn there, don't U-turn 'cos it's quite hard, change lane, don't turn too widely blah blah blah. Got abit annoyed.
Hysterical voice + non-stop nagging = pressure
Ok, so I did 80km/h on a normal road. My fault, but the nagging and hysteria even before I moved out of the parking lot was totally uncalled for. I realised I can't drive with anyone incessantly nagging beside me 'cos I get really pressured. No wonder I suck during driving lessons 'cos Helen just kept nagging and nagging and nagging. I felt so much more comfortable during the test when I was allowed to do my stuff and the tester just sat quietly beside me. No pressure at all.
